Abstract

35.5 percent of women and 7.5 percent of men over the age of 50 in Korea are osteoporosis, which is feared to increase
the incidence of MRONJ due to the administration of bisphosphonates. In this case report, unlike chronic pain in MRONJ
patients, the pain appeal was severe, the trigger point was wide and ambiguous, which was necessary to determine true
pain from neuropathic pain such as trigeminal neuralgia. So, pain patterns and depth trends were observed before and after hospital treatment and surgery. Based on the areas of intense pain and ambiguous pain in general, it was determined that the pain could be the cause, so Carbamazepine was taken for two days without the administration of painkillers. However, pain relief did not appear on medication, so Sequestrectomy was performed, and pain decreased significantly afterwards. There is a serious need for MRONJ¡¯s research an aging society, and it is difficult for older people to identify the symptoms of patients and make accurate diagnosis and identification, so a problem awaiting solution remains.
